15 Days, but who's counting?

Jess has been in the MTC for 15 days.  I am here to say that he does not write enough information in the few letters he has sent.

Example:

Mom:  I need my camera stuff.  I forgot it.

Kadee:  Can you decorate 3 copies of the Book of Mormon for me and send them to me while I'm here?  Soon please.

Cam:  The food is Good

Dal:  I miss you bro

Dad: If I could speak the language of rabbits, they would think I was awesome and make me their king.

Love Jess

You guessed it.  That was the bulk of the letter.  Then the next letter said:
Mom
I need the following things.  3 T-shirts, white ankle socks, my camera battery charger.
I won't be able to call home for Christmas this year so know that I love all of you more than you love me.

Love Jess

Tuesday, December 21,2010     EMAIL

Hello, I know I have to buy a bike when I get out there.  I'm working on making sure I have everything I need while I'm here.  The MTC is really cool.  A lot of the food is fake, but its pretty good.  The biggest disapointment right now is that we'll have to eat sack dinners for Christmas and we only get four items that are like a Bagel and a Donut.  Oh will I'll get over it.

Tell Cameron to stop covetting other people's wheelers.  Its not a Christ like attribute.  I met a Sister Missionary here that would really keep him humble in that aspect.  He name is Sister Hagelmeister.  She's going to Slovania.  She's kind of intimidating, but very nice once you get past that part of her.

We have almost 9 hours of study time everday which puts all of us in a state of nodding.  We end up eating lots of snacks and candy to keep ourselves awake.  Our teachers are really cool though.  Brother Bonner and Brother Tew.  They like to remind us to stay humble and focused.  They really care about the people we're about to teach.

Tell Jesse and Lincoln to talk to Max Martinez if they want to borrow my stuff since he is keeping track of my things.

Tell Kadee and Dal that I love them and dad that he's bald and I tell my district members about him all the time.  The love stories whether they're true or not.

I'll be sending pictures real soon for you to scan and post on the blog with these letters.  It's hard to get them sent.

I love you all!

PS  The 22nd is our last day to recieve packages by mail.  I need you to box up a pair of levi's, put Elder Jess Christofferson on them and DROP THEM OFF at the front desk for me so that I can get them.  I really need a pair of Levi's.  Oh! and a Jacket.  I also need those decorated copies of the BOM from Kadee.  I was planning to give them to the sisters at our District Christmas Party on Christmas day.  I also need her to decorate a 4th one for Sister Hagelmeister since she spends so much time with our district.  I love you!

12/15/2010

My first day in the MTC was pretty crazy.  They threw a lot of information at as really fast.  Its a lot like Shidoshi's teaching style. I like it.

My companion is elder Watts from Twin Falls Idaho.  He used to work on a potato farm.  He's an awesome guy and very analytical.  We broke down some lessons today to some excellent details.  He's going to Maryland and so are my other two roommates who's names I'm still trying to learn.  I'll be putting them in my next letter.

We had 3 mock investigations today which were really insightful and very exciting.  We didn't know if they were real investigators.

I've been asked several times now if I'm related to "D. Todd."  Everyone tells me that it sounds exciting.

Well I'm off to bed now.

Love,  JESS

Kicked to the Curb!

Here he is.  Elder Christofferson.  His MTC arrival time was scheduled for 12:30, but about 11:55 he said "lets do this."  Followed by "before I explode inside".

Sibbling bonding time.

Family time.....

Kodak moment as we went out the front door.

We had Christmas at our house the night before Jess went to the MTC.  We exchanged our gifts with Jess, but the gift he gave us, meant the most.  "Serving a Mission."

When we went to the church for Jess to be set apart, the spirit there was amazingly strong.  The Stake Presidency had some wonderful words of advice.  Molly had us all crying within the first few minutes.  (Like I say.....it is all her fault.)  I am sure it has something to do with the strong spirit.  After Jess was set apart, he took off his Missionary in Training badge and pinned it on Dillan.  That was good for a few tears also.

Zane was priviledged to be his companion from then until he entered the MTC.  Jess was actually priviledged enough to have 2 companions.  Cameron taught all of us some pretty cool missionary stuff too.

So, it begins....2 years of Missionary Blessings.   And hopefully many more to follow.

December 12, 2010

Today was really amazing.  The church was packed with lots of family, friends and ward members.  What a great support group!  We even rented a house with a big living room for the bruncheon after, and it was full to the brim and running over.  What a compliment to Jess!  We are so blessed to have so many family and friends.

Thank you to Jess's friends who sat on the front row and waved at him.  Thank you Roberta for driving down from Layton.  Thank you to Thea and her Dad (Nitro) for making the trip from South Dakota.  Thank you to all those who brought food, ate food and blew food out their nostrils.  It was a lot of fun....

I took my camera, and I even took it out of the case.   Then I sat it on the counter and never picked it up again until we cleaned up the house.  Yep, you guessed it, no pictures.

I promise, we will take lots of pictures on Tuesday and Wednesday!  Jess will need to practice his "tuck and roll", so we can push him out of the car as we drive by the MTC.  I'm gunna miss that kid!

Again.....thank you and we love you all!

This is the place!

Welcome to the "Mission Blog" for Jess.  (Otherwise known as Jesser, Juice, Chaos, and soon to be Elder Christofferson.)

I will be posting letters here from Jess, and hopefully he will send me a few pictures too.  I promise to do my best at keeping this updated.  If I fail, the assignment will be forwarded to someone else.  (Probably Aunt Les.)

The big "Farewell" talk will be tomorrow at 9am.  His "curbside drop off" to the MTC, will be on Wednesday December 15.

Jess has some pretty amazing family and friends.  If it was'nt for them......His "Mission Possible" would have been mission impossible!  He has great missionary "role models."  (To many to list.)  But just to name a few.......Colton, Cameron, Chase, Nate, Brigham, and the list goes on and on....

He has awesome Mission Prep teachers, and awesome friends that have been there with him every week.  He will miss his Star Wars "geek" friends, but those dice will be traded in on Book of Mormons and pass along cards.

Dad and Mom want to say "Thank You" for helping Jess get to this point and his little sister Kadee wants to say....he's outta here!

Love you all.................
Kim
